new budget

http://www.miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/article152074727.html
"Mulvaney: The federal budget released today puts taxpayers first"

The article I read was about Trump's new 2018 fiscal budget. This budget is said to have two main points. The first is that the government should work for the people. The second is that our government should be more accountable to the people that are helping to fund it. This new budget is called "A New Foundation for American Greatness." Trumps goal in this is to have a "taxpayer first" budget. This budget is aimed to be most appealing to those who work hard and pay taxes. Trump wants to help allow people to spend more time with their families ,and for people to be able to earn the money they deserve in return for all their hard work.

In ap gov we have talked about the word fiscal and how it relates to money and taxes. We have also talked about the powers of the president. This power of creating the budget is very important to the people. How a president choses to spend/use the money is something crucial to our country.

After reading this article I have a better understanding on what President Trump wants for the future of our country. I like his plan for the budget because I think he is really trying to allow people to be able to earn what they work for. I think many other people will be fond of this budget as well.

shockingly fired

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/09/politics/james-comey-fbi-trump-white-out/

On Tuesday Trump shocked many with his decision to fire the head of the FBI. James Comey, the head of the FBI,was talking to others and looked up on T.V. to find out that President Trump had fired him. He tried to make a joke out of the situation to lighten the mood in a room with many perplexed faces. Comey was in charge of the investigation to see if people in the Trump campaign team colluded with Russia in this past years election. The Trumps administration said that the reason for Comey being fired was the way he handled the Clinton email scandal. Democrats are comparing this action to firings in the Watergate-era. Roger Stone was one of the people who recommended that Comey be fired . Roger also was affiliated with the Russian investigation but Trumps says that Roger had nothing to do with Trump's decision. The letter from Trump sent to Comey firing him stated that Comey wasn't fit to lead the bureau. Even though Trump has the authority to do this many think it's not normal.

In AP Gov we have talked about actions of the President. The president is the chief executive and has many powers although there is checks on them. The president can issue executive orders. These orders are in relation with treaties which need senate approval. The president can also issue executive orders which have the affect off a law. Also the president can issue and executive privilege which is when the president holds information if it relates to national security. Many people are unhappy with the presidents decision to fire James Comey. Even though this decision is making many unhappy, this is in the President's powers to do.

This article is coming from a democratic standpoint. After reading this article I have a better understanding on the firing of the leader of the FBI. I do think the reason behind Trump firing Comey is not as clear as if should be. I think Trump should give more reasoning behind his action.

Ongoing Conflict with Iran

http://www.weeklystandard.com/iran-on-notice/article/2007773
"Iran on Notice"

Iran has been an on-going problem for our country. This past week Paul Ryan received a letter from the Trump administration that the Islamic Republic of Iran was in compliance with the Iran Nuclear Deal. Trump absolutely hates this deal!!!! Trump promised to remove this deal but it has yet to happen. Some of the Trump administration want to go hard on the Iranians and the others was to be cautious since these people are a "leading state sponsor of terror." This past week Vice President Mike Pence had a stern talk with North Korea also while Rex Tillerson was calling out Russia (Iran's ally) about how they need to be stricter on the use of chemical weapons there. President Trump seems to be fearless about upsetting Tehran; Trump sees Iran as a big problem that needs to be dealt with. Trumps feelings and action plans relating to Iran are very different compared to Obama's. How President Trump will deal with Iran is something many people are anticipating to see.

In ap gov we have talked about the president's jobs and the powers he shares with the senate. Some of  these powers include making treaties, appointing ambassadors, and appointing judges. The president and congress really need to work together to come up with a plan of action for Iran. We also just learned that the two main issues the president will face are the economy and foreign affairs. Our countries conflicts with Iran is a major foreign affairs problem. How our president deals with this issue will definitely have many people talking.

After reading this article I have a better understanding on what out president's plan for action is regarding Iran. I think that Trump should stay true to his promise when he said he was going to get rid of the the Iran Nuclear Deal. I like how Trump wants to take action to put down these enemies of ours instead of just watching from a distance. I think we should make sure Iran knows that our country is "not a force to be reckoned with."

All Talk No Action

"Time to replace Paul Ryan as House Speaker"
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/03/time_to_replace_paul_ryan_as_house_speaker.html

From 2009 till now the Republican's have been saying that they would repeal Obamacare, but this is yet to happen. Paul Ryan, the speaker of the house, is being held accountable for this failure. Paul didn't believe Trump was going to win the presidential election so he wasn't quiet ready to go forward  with a plan to take away Obamacare. Ryan made a plan to repeal Obamacare but it didn't really have any input from other conservative which was a problem. The "block in the road" to the plan was a group of 15 republicans who refused to vote for the plan. This plan needed all factions to agree and Pau Ryan failed to listen to all of the factions. This failure weakens Trump and gives the democrats another reason to dislike Trump. Since Ryan and the rest of the House Republican Leadership couldn't seem to get this job done Trump had to step in. He tried to get both sides to agree but he failed to do so. The Republicans need to get more serious about getting rid of Obama care and actually get it done. This failure will cause more problems in the future is it isn't resolved.  Hopefully Pauly Ryan will get the job done.

In AP Gov we just got through talking about supreme court justices and the rule of four. The rule of four is when 4 out of 9 of the justices can grant a writ of Certiorari. This seems fairly easy to achieve.  This relates to my article because Paul Ryan's job was not only to get 4 people but 15 people to agree on a plan. He failed this task. Some people are starting to think he isn't very fit for his job if he can't complete this simple task of getting 15 people to agree on a plan. Maybe if the Rule of Four applied to Paul Ryan's task he wouldn't have failed.

After reading this article I have a better understanding on why the removal of Obama care is taking so long. I think Paul Ryan really needs to get something done to finish up this process since the removal of Obamacare has been talked about for so long.

Trump against the environment

"How Trump's budget would Endanger the Environment, and us"
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/trump-budget-endanger-environment-article-1.3000172

President Trump has definitely made it a point to make some changes in our country. His next change he is moving toward involving the environment has been very controversial. The article I read talks negatively about Trump's new budget plan that would harm different environmental groups. The plan we already have is that for every dollar in federal spending, 1/5 of a penny goes back to the EPA. The EPA's goal is to protect our air, land, and water. From reading this article it doesn't seem like our President is too concerned with our environment.Trump thinks that the climate change happening is all a joke. His new budget would cause drastic budget changes to different groups including the EPA ,and would eliminate the Popular Energy Star program. Under Trump's plan one of the most beneficial plans called the 2015 Clean Power Plan would be GONE! This plan that Trump would be eliminating helps to decrease the carbon footprint left from our country's many power plants. Trump's plan for dealing with our environmental issues is to not deal with them at all. His way of thinking is that the environment should take care of itself. Trump's plan could have a bigger effect on our environment than he is expecting.

In AP gov we have talked about the checks and balances on our government. In the article I read, it talks about how the congress needs to stand up against the president. With checks and balances congress can veto the budget plan Trump is trying to pass. The author of this article has a negative attitude against Trump and his actions. He feels that Trump is not thinking this new budget plan through at all, and that he is neglecting to think about the effects it will have on the environment in the long-run .

After reading this article I have a better understand on what is going on in my country. I disagree with Trump's new budget plan. I think we should work towards making our environment better, not harming it. I think that Trump's plan will definitely have a negative effect on our country. I think this plan is something our President needs to rethink.

Where is the church going??

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/04/breaking-faith/517785/?utm_source=twb

America was founded under Christian values; the Pledge of Allegiance proves this when it says "One Nation Under God." Although Christianity is at the basis of our country the number of people who are a part of an organized religion are decreasing. Most people still believe in God but their church attendance and religious participation isn't really there. As it says in my article "the percentage of white Republicans with no religious affiliation has nearly tripled since 1990." Republicans who aren't very involved with the church leaned towards Trump while he was running for president. Studies show that white Americans who aren't attached with the church have less economic success and more family problems than those who are. Churches also help with the issue of equality because people who attend church are more likely to go out and "spread equal love" than those that don't. In all religion has a big effect on our country.

In Ap Gov we have talked about the First Amendment which includes the freedom of religion. This freedom pertains to all American Citizens and allows everyone to worship how they wish. Also we have learned about the separation of church and state. This separation effects our schools by making public schools not be allowed to influence the students ideals on religion in any way. Religion has also pertained to other things we have learned so far in the class.

After reading this article I have a better understanding on what is happening in our country relating to religion. I do agree that being more affiliated with the church helps with a person's life overall. I also believe that it does help with the problem of segregation. I think this because the church teaches about sharing and showing love to everyone equally. Religion is something our country was founded upon and I think it should always be apart of America.

Trump's Bumpy Start

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-michael-flynn-flames_us_58a29e1ee4b0ab2d2b187775?5povn5ulgmu6jemi

President Trump's first month in office has definitely been a rocky road. National security advisor, Michael T. Flynn's resign will definitely identify as a big bump in the road for the Trump Administration and the White House. The presidents first month has been filled with "scandal, legal challenges, personal drama, and questions about his temperament during interactions with world leaders." Many people are worried that there is no clear understanding of who is in charge in The White House. So far  President Trump has fallen short of some of the things he was promised to do. From the start President Trump has let all parties know he will be a force to be reckoned with. So far some have said he has failed to live up to his key plans of stopping illegal immigration, bringing back jobs, ending trade deals, and reducing crime all over the nation, which were promised throughout his campaign. So president Trump's job in office overall isn't off to the best start, but that doesn't mean it won't get better.

In Ap Gov we have been talking about the different types of voting strategies. We have been focussing on primaries and caucuses. A primary Presidential election was just held where people came to cast their vote for either Trump or Hillary, in which Trump won. In Ap Gov we have also been talking about the electoral college which is a group of people chosen to cast each state's vote for each senator and representative it has. In this past election the candidate who was to win the election needed 270 votes. President Trump obtained 306 votes while Hillary Clinton obtained 232 votes. Since Trump gained all of those voters' votes he should start moving forward with the promises he made to thank those that voted for him, and for the rest of the country.

After reading this article I have more understanding on how rocky President's first month has been. I do agree that Trump has had many obstacles but I feel that he needs to "get moving" to start fulfilling the promises he has made to all of this country. I also think there needs to be some more clarification in The White House regarding who is in charge and who is setting setting policies. I do believe President Trump can fulfill these promises and that we shouldn't judge him too much just based on his first month in office.
