Trump's Bumpy Start

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-michael-flynn-flames_us_58a29e1ee4b0ab2d2b187775?5povn5ulgmu6jemi

President Trump's first month in office has definitely been a rocky road. National security advisor, Michael T. Flynn's resign will definitely identify as a big bump in the road for the Trump Administration and the White House. The presidents first month has been filled with "scandal, legal challenges, personal drama, and questions about his temperament during interactions with world leaders." Many people are worried that there is no clear understanding of who is in charge in The White House. So far  President Trump has fallen short of some of the things he was promised to do. From the start President Trump has let all parties know he will be a force to be reckoned with. So far some have said he has failed to live up to his key plans of stopping illegal immigration, bringing back jobs, ending trade deals, and reducing crime all over the nation, which were promised throughout his campaign. So president Trump's job in office overall isn't off to the best start, but that doesn't mean it won't get better.

In Ap Gov we have been talking about the different types of voting strategies. We have been focussing on primaries and caucuses. A primary Presidential election was just held where people came to cast their vote for either Trump or Hillary, in which Trump won. In Ap Gov we have also been talking about the electoral college which is a group of people chosen to cast each state's vote for each senator and representative it has. In this past election the candidate who was to win the election needed 270 votes. President Trump obtained 306 votes while Hillary Clinton obtained 232 votes. Since Trump gained all of those voters' votes he should start moving forward with the promises he made to thank those that voted for him, and for the rest of the country.

After reading this article I have more understanding on how rocky President's first month has been. I do agree that Trump has had many obstacles but I feel that he needs to "get moving" to start fulfilling the promises he has made to all of this country. I also think there needs to be some more clarification in The White House regarding who is in charge and who is setting setting policies. I do believe President Trump can fulfill these promises and that we shouldn't judge him too much just based on his first month in office.

Trump Benefiting from the law

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/02/06/gregg-jarrett-why-law-is-on-trumps-side-with-his-immigration-ban.html

Trumps recent executive order on immigration has gotten much attention these past weeks. Many people think that this law is irrational but the law says otherwise. The law states that the president can ban the entry of foreigners as long as he sees them as a threat to our safety as a nation. This article explains how President Trump can carry out this law because the people to which the law is applying don't get the same rights as United States citizens because they are not on "our soil." The article states how most people are over reacting about the order and forgetting that it is only temporary. This executive order has even made it's way to a Seattle court case where District Court Judge James Walker placed a hold on this immigration ban. This case is on the way to the 9th circuit. While the people seem to be against Trump the Law is definitely on his side.

In AP Gov we have been talking about different amendments and the rights that they give us. The first amendment concerning freedom of religion;then the fourth and fifteen Amendments concerning equal protection are important amendments dealing with Trumps immigration law. Although these amendments state rights that make Trumps law wrongful these rights only apply to citizens of the United States. All the immigrants trump is trying to keep away are not even eligible for this right because they are not on our land. These amendments are what is helping support Trump with this law.

After reading this article I have much more information on the executive order on immigration that Trump is putting into action. I do agree with Trump on this law. I think Trump is looking out for the security of our country by doing this. I think Trump has total authority to issue this law since our laws state that the president can ban the entry of foreigners if he believes "they pose as a threat to the nation's security." The countries that this ban is applying to have been at some harm to our country. I also believe that since the immigrants aren't on American soil and they don't get the same rights as American citizens they shouldn't be treated like American citizens under the law. I think Trump is just trying to make our country the safest for us citizens and I think we should "sit back" and let him do his job.
